Overview

Construction management and investor reporting for residential developments. A builder tracks developments, capital, phases, expenses and evidence, and releases selected updates to the investors in each development through a separate portal that can only ever show what has been approved for release.

The Challenge

Developers report to investors through spreadsheets mailed out monthly, where the numbers can be edited after the fact and nobody can tell which version an investor actually saw. Meanwhile the builder's own view — schedule drift, spend against budget, the evidence for each phase — lives in the same fragile files.

The Solution

A React 19 single-page app over a Django and DRF API, split into two shells that share one design system: an internal platform covering schedule, financials, evidence, investors, suppliers, publications, reports, notifications and permissions, and an investor portal hard-scoped to a single investor. The load-bearing rule is the publishing gate — the portal reads only published publications, documents and evidence, so nothing reaches an investor merely because it was entered. The second rule is that the numbers reconcile by construction: investor participations sum exactly to contributed capital, and phase actuals sum to total spend. Sign-in is social OAuth, with a permission matrix over profiles for projects, field content, financials, publishing and the portal. Components are built and reviewed in Storybook, in both light and dark.
